The Convening for Dance and Culture is an annual two-day dance conference and concert experience in Detroit, Michigan. This event interweaves interactive classes taught by expert instructors from the African Diaspora. Classes are available on Saturday and Sunday, as well as an evening fundraiser performance from the TeMaTe dance company.

Create new interactive workshops that teach multigenerational drumming and dance classes for residents in Metro Detroit.

Reduces financial barriers to arts and culture programs, helping us to provide free or low cost classes/events to low and moderate income households..

Artistic development and mentorships for performance company members which provides experience, training, and tools to build strong technique and performance ability..

The concert showcases TeMaTe’s dance company. There will be up six performances over a two hour period with a short intermission.

Sessions include traditional West African dances such as Sabar, Drum and dance, Congolese and more!
